So did you click the title? It's funny how everything is technology now a days. From groceries to meetings, but at what cost.

Reading the 2023 Horizon Report's Key Technologies and Practices, it talked about the tension between advancing technologies and the human aspects of teaching and learning. It is not just about adopting new tools, but also about integrating them for equity, access, and connection. This report focuses more on higher education, but many of the technologies and practices are very relebant to K-12 and early childhood settings. These tools can help students, but they need safeguards and approrpriate scaffolding. We do not need kinder students trying to go to random websites that will bring in a virus.

Students now a days all they do is be on technology and God forbid an adult gets told they have to have a face-to-face meeting because that is the end of the world. There are many ways that technology has made us more disconnected to others as some of us have preferred a screen over a person. I know I prefer emails over in-person as now I get anxiety over meeting people in person!

Speaking of technology and how we rather send emails than speak in person, I used SurveyMonkey to send out a survey to a couple of my friends about their usage of technology. Because of course an email is WAY easier than speaking in person. Do not get me wrong, when you get me talking, I do not get social cues to stop, which is safer for everyone if I just email.

If you made it this far, you have won the chance to fill out my survey!
