I remember as an elementary student that we did not have our own personal computers. We had to share the big PC ones and that was usually just for AR testing.
Now a days, all students have their own personal computers and they have so much freedom in the computers. Teaching students how to use the technology is one of the big task that teachers are now facing. Being able to explore the different websites honestly felt like a breath of fresh air. The reason that I say that is because I was not aware of all the different websites that are safe for kids to use.
Google can sometimes become so daunting for kids or the language on it is different. Elementary students need something a little different and safer than Google to be able to search. Even students in higher education need something more that Google Scholar because something refreshing is always needed every once in a while.
Being able to explore the different websites has given me a new outlook on search engines for not only my students, but for myself as well!
